Since the dawn of deregulation way back in 1992, the telecoms industry has changed more than any other in 15 years.
Tel-bureau people have been at the heart of this exciting yet often challenging period since day one, bringing immense collective experience to the table – and placing this experience at the disposal of our clients.
Tel-bureau began life as a small software house in 1992, providing a range of data processing services to the new wave of communications companies competing against BT in a deregulated marketplace. Early clients included Freefone Telecom, Freefone Select, Totem Telecom and Martin Dawes Communications, to name just a few.
The mid-to-late 1990s saw immense opportunities presented by further deregulation, that allowed companies to compete with BT on both outbound and inbound calls on a more level playing field. The relationships already forged between Tel-bureau and a multitude of Tier 1 network suppliers made this an opportune moment for Tel-bureau to become a telecoms operator in its own right, initially wholesaling airtime and a range of services to the growing number of firms entering the marketplace.
At the beginning of this decade, Tel-bureau made the strategic decision to become a telecoms operator in its own right, and the subsidiary firm OptionOne Telecom was born, providing a range of services to business of all sizes.
In 2003, Tel-bureau pioneered what was, at the time, the revolutionary business model of the ‘value-added distributor’. Receiving considerable financial backing as part of a Welsh Assembly Government initiative, the decision was taken to focus heavily on the needs of mid-to-large-sized businesses, in which expertise and resources may sometimes be limited, but demand for higher performance from communications and IT systems is critical. In short, the aggregate purchasing power of Tel-bureau allowed commercial and public sector bodies to fully exploit the potential that their own buying power rightly dictates. As such, they are now benefiting from rates previously reserved for telecoms resellers in their own right.
Our business has been successfully built by understanding the value of key relationships with customers, employees, and partners. We partner with some of the best suppliers in the industry including Cisco, Cable and Wireless, BT, Avaya, ICS and NetServices plc.
Through acquisitions and organic growth, Tel-bureau now finds itself in the enviable position of being one of the fastest growing communications companies in the UK. The valuable niche occupied in the market by Tel-bureau makes it strongly positioned to face the commercial challenges this exciting industry has in store.
In September 2006, Tel-bureau was proud to announce the acquisition of UK Corporate Telecom (also trading under the "CorTel" brand), and is delighted to welcome its extensive client list on board.
